Palm Tree Truss

These Palm Tree Truss Towers can be approximately 12, 15, or even 20 feet tall. Each “tree” can feature four to eight compact moving lights or LED PAR fixtures, creating both a scenic element and a functional lighting position within the event.

Burlap-wrapped truss and real palm fronds help create the tropical appearance. The palm fronds can also help conceal lighting fixtures and cabling near the top of the tower, allowing the production equipment to become part of the visual design instead of standing out as traditional event hardware.

Because the towers can support moving lights and other professional fixtures, they can also become part of a larger stage and production lighting design. This gives us the ability to combine themed scenery with color, movement, texture, and focused illumination throughout the room.

Palm Tree Truss Towers aren’t limited to illuminating floors and walls. They can also serve as structural support points for bistro and string lighting , allowing the towers to become part of a larger lighting design.

In the project pictured below, TYLERLIGHT used the Palm Tree Truss Towers to support string lights throughout the event space. This added warm overhead illumination while reinforcing the tropical theme and creating a more immersive environment for guests.

String lighting is especially effective for themed events because it contributes practical illumination while also becoming part of the décor. When combined with scenic truss towers, uplighting, moving fixtures, and projection, the lighting can help visually connect the entire venue.

One of the first events where we featured these Palm Tree Truss Towers began with an empty white gymnasium that needed to become a Copacabana-themed event.

We combined the Palm Tree Truss Towers with string lighting, moving lights, LED PAR fixtures, and Lekos projecting GOBO patterns across all four walls.

GOBO projection allowed us to add texture and visual interest to otherwise plain surfaces without permanently changing the venue. The projections worked together with the moving lights, overhead string lighting, and themed truss towers to create a much more complete environment.

Once the full lighting design came together, the space no longer felt like an ordinary gymnasium. The combination of lighting, projection, themed truss, and overhead string lighting transformed the room into an immersive Copacabana environment.

This is a good example of what professional event lighting can accomplish. A venue does not necessarily need elaborate permanent architecture to become memorable. Strategic lighting and scenic production can completely change the way guests perceive a space.
